Abstract
This investigation was made to find the fecal fat excretion in diarrhea. Clinical evaluation was carried out on 95 cases of infantile and childhood diarrhea patients who were admitted to Korea University Hospital from February to April 1983.
The following results were obtained,
1. 89.5% of patients were under 1 year of age and peak incidence was noticed under 6 months of age (46.6%). Sex incidence showed that male to female predominated in proportion of 1.3 : 1.
2. Duration of diarrhea before admission was mostly 1 to 3 days duration (61. 1%) and over 7 days, 11.6%.
3. The most common frequency of diarrhea in a day was 4 to 6 times (40.0%) and 29.5% was noted over 10 times. The nature of stool was relatively high incidence of mucoid stool (43.2%) but watery stool was most common (56.8%).
4. Fever was the most common clinical manifestation (48.4%), others were vomiting (35.8%), neurologic symptoms (28.4%) and coughing (20.0%).
